Warren Harding: Woman's Suffrage Badge. After the passage of the 19th amendment to the Constitution, women were finally able to vote nationwide. The first general election to occur after its passage took place in 1920. This 1¾" silk-covered pinback by J. H. Shaw of Philadelphia is inscribed "Under The 19th Amendment I Cast My First Vote Nov. 2nd, 1920". The attached 2" x 4" silk ribbon reads: "Harding Coolidge The Straight Republican Ticket Lancaster, Pa." Both the ribbon and the button are printed in black & yellow, colors used in the suffrage movement.
