    Description

Taft & Sherman: A Spectacular & Unique 1 3/4" Jugate. Your writer can still recall his amazement upon first seeing this gorgeous button in Tom Huston's collection back in the mid-1970s. No photograph can full convey the presence of this large jugate. Reminiscent of the familiar 3/4" and 7/8" jugates with portraits on the side of the elephant, this piece is at a whole different level. It features real photo portraits and a rich, light sepia coloration and, given its presumed uniqueness, must rank not only as the premier Taft-Sherman jugate design, but as one of the top celluloid jugates for any ticket! The condition is unimprovable and will satisfy even the most fastidious collector.

This button has a wonderful back story. sometime in the late 1950s, Tom Huston's father happened to be in a shop where a small group of old political pins were for sale. Knowing how much his son loved American political history, he thought young Tom might enjoy them and bought the group as a gift. This impulsive purchase would launch tom Huston on a 60+ year collecting journey. Now it is time for this prized button to become the centerpiece of another collection. It could be yours! Selections from the Collection of Tom Charles Huston.
