DescriptionJames M. Cox: A Rare Notification Day Badge in Amazing Condition. Issued to a member of the committee which journeyed to Dayton after the Democratic National Convention to formally notify Cox of his nomination. In those days it was considered beneath the dignity of the major hopefuls to attend the convention. They waited at home while the professional politicians horse-traded convention votes until a nominee was chosen.
Notification Day buttons and ribbons have always been collector favorites, and this is a very special example. The ribbon portion is made of silk, which is prone to dry rot and tearing, and the heavy medal suspended in front of it tended to add to the damage. The Cox example offered here is virtually mint, and should excite serious bidder interest. From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.View More Testimonials
