Harry S Truman: Exceptionally Rare Pre-Presidential Button. 2 1/8" button inscribed: "Ask Me Harry S. Truman & Good Roads". Likely issued for one of Truman's re-election bids to the Jackson County Court (1924, 1926 or 1930). Slight indentation at the 4 o'clock position with a clean puncture in the "A" of "Roads". We recall APIC President Wayne LaPoe bringing an example to an early collector meet in Los Angeles. The metal back plate on that specimen had a circular "donut hole" cut from the middle for reasons unknown. Wayne wouldn't sell it outright, but offered it for trade. As it turns out, he didn't have a Cox picture pin in his collection. Accordingly, an astute collector went over to a dealer's table (Charlie McSorley, we believe), purchased a standard Phillie badge Cox picture pin for $60 and made the trade. There are only a handful of these in private collections. A key Truman rarity... just ask me! The first example we have ever handled.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
