Coolidge & Dawes: A Possibly Unique Variant of this Sought-after 6" Jugate. Portraits are in blue rather than the customary black and white. Possibly a manufacturer's test piece or a salesman's sample of a version never ordered in quantity. In many ways, this bold red, white, and blue design is the best jugate celluloid ever produced. As the photo shows, the display appearance is excellent, but a couple minor condition issues must be noted. There are two tiny areas where the celluloid and paper below are missing, one on the edge at 3:30 and one at the edge of Dawes' hair at 2:00. These detract minimally and could probably be easily colored in if the next owner is so inclined. There are some scattered surface scratches, none of which go through the celluloid, and a bit of light surface abrasion. These are undetectable unless the light hits the surface at just the right angle. Overall the button presents well, and should satisfy all but the most condition-conscious collectors.
