Description
Anti-FDR: A Rare and Distinctive 1¼" Button from the 1936 Election. Terrific slogans: "Rally to the Constitution, Flag & Prosperity" and "American Constitution / It stood from Washington until trampled upon by Roosevelt / If it was good enough for our forefathers it is good enough for me." Inspired, of course, by the widespread belief among Republicans that the president's "New Deal" had exceeded the chief executive's constitutional authority (the more things change, the more they stay the same!).Only a small handful are known, and Merrill Berman always considered this one of the most important button rarities in his collection. Condition is superb and unimprovable. From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.
