    Description

Woman's Suffrage: Seven English Suffrage-Related Real Photo Cards. All examples 3.5" x 5.5" and in very good condition. The English suffragists recorded through "semi-official" photographers, much of the history and events of the movement as they occurred. To have a collection of such cards is to trace a decade or so of the English Suffrage activities. This lot includes examples featuring: suffragette Vera Holme on horseback; a National Union of Women Suffrage Societies march; examples of various suffrage meetings and marches; and perhaps most interesting, a card featuring the funeral of Emily Davison, the suffragist who leaped in front of King George's horse and was killed. She was noted as the first suffrage martyr, and her funeral was a large event at the time.
