DescriptionJohn F. Kennedy: Home Movie of November 21, 1963 Visit to San Antonio. The consignor of this historic lot is a retired Major in the United States Air Force. On November 21, 1963, he was stationed at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas during a brief stopover by President and Mrs. Kennedy, just before their ill-fated trip to Dallas. He took the opportunity to film an 8 mm color "home movie" of the event. The film runs 2 minutes and 45 seconds. In sequence, it shows the Presidential helicopter descending (prior to landing), the President & First Lady approaching the speaker's platform and taking their place, the President giving a speech, the entourage of guests and military officials walking away, the guests (including Governor & Mrs. John Connelly) driving away in a limousine and an overview of the installation. Although there are online images of JFK delivering his speech at this event, this is a unique and unpublished record of the visit, taken from a different perspective. It has been transferred to a CD and music added (three different tracks) for ease of viewing.
