COLLECTION OF 27 POLITICAL PAPERWEIGHTS. Quite a varied collection, ranging from a rare c. 1850 Henry Clay to Bush and Cheney. Consisting of: 1) Cast iron Henry Clay, formed of two sections, with his neck set into a rounded rectangular base. We have seen perhaps 2-3 others over the years, but this is a rare item possibly honoring Clay late in his career, or a memorial piece upon his 1852 death. 2) Scarce 1892 Harrison and Reid, with frosted top hat having "The Man in the Hat" lettered on hat-band. Above, "One Good Term Deserves Another," and below a Latin motto and "Harrison & Reid." Excellent. 3) Bronze McKinley in bust shape, with "Sound Money" at bottom. Excellent. 4) Round McKinley with single sepia portrait. Somewhat faded and edge flaw on the photo. 5) McKinley-Hobart jugate. Some flaking and staining. 6) McKinley-Roosevelt jugate. Choice. 7) Another, slightly imperfect but still nice 8) Color Grant Memorial in Chicago with him on horseback. Excellent 9) Color 1904 World’s Fair. Several small edge chips from image. 10) Turn-of-the-century round Shiloh Grant memorial. Choice. 11) Metal simulated stack of coins with jugate of GW and Hoover, and 1929 Inauguration date, in center 12) Composition FDR with photo 13) Mirror-backed heavy glass souvenir from the Belle Springs Creamery. "Dwight D. Eisenhower worked here summers, 1906-1910. Inset pocket holds flakes from chimney brick of the building. Unusual. 14) Harry Truman portrait 15) 1953 Eisenhower Inaugural, with mirror-like background 16) Three different official bronze inaugural medals, which are quite heavy and are often employed as paperweights: 1957 Ike-Nixon, 1965 LBJ, and 1961 JFK 17) Nice heavy metal 1964 GOP National Convention souvenir, with 3-D elephant in center 18) Nixon-Agnew with button encased in lucite 19) "Bush-Quayle ’92," heavy glass 20) High-quality heavy glass George Bush with Presidential Seal and facsimile signature 21) 1997 Clinton-Gore inaugural with Capitol 22) Large, blue-background "Congressional Black Caucus" 23) Al Gore "40/40" 24) Bush-Cheney 25) 2002 Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee A nice, interesting collection. The first two alone have a fair market value of 2-3 times the minimum. Bid for all 27! (# This item may require additional shipping charges).

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
