    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Springfield Funeral Hearse Relic. 2" tall and 3" wide gilded brass ornament in the shape of a flower. It is stamped on the inside of one of its petals with the number "5" and is housed in a modern display that includes a photograph of Lincoln and the funeral hearse the ornament was used on. The ornament has a center "stem" with swedge-like bracket used to hold a floral display, as seen in the photo. An old typed caption card indicates it was taken from the hearse made in St. Louis by Jesse Arnold who personally drove it to Springfield then back to St. Louis after Lincoln's final funeral at Oak Ridge Cemetery. "... later the building burned and all woodwork of the hearse burned. Frank Whitman, Civil War veteran, saved this ornament."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
