    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Cleveland Ohio Funeral Photograph. Albumen photograph of President Lincoln's remains lying in state in Monument Square on April 28, 1865. The albumen measures 3.5" x 6.5" and is on the original 6" x 8" titled mount. The photograph, which was taken by local photograph Sweeny of Cleveland, has been custom framed to an overall size of 9.25" x 11.25". The pavilion under which Lincoln's casket rests is surround by mourners, a band, and the military as they prepare to pay their last respects to the Commander in Chief. Under close inspection one can see many of the mourners holding umbrellas as it was a rainy blustery April day in Cleveland. The tone and detail of the albumen is excellent. Included with the photograph is a similarly framed print of a handout reading "The Nation Mourns a Martyred Father" below the American flag. A fine pair for display.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
