Description

Lincoln & Hamlin: Choice Ferrotype Jugate. The ferrotype was invented in 1855 and first saw widespread use in campaign buttons in 1860. There was one basic design of "jugate" which was made for all four slates of candidates. They are hard to find in perfect condition. This 7/8" badge inscribed "Lincoln and Hamlin" is about as nice as they get. Very few of them retain their original stickpin attachment and this is no exception. The loss must have occurred at the time, as someone has drilled a tiny hole at the top for suspension purposes. This one should please even the most finicky collector.
