Description

John Quincy Adams: "Anti-Jacksonian" Campaign Newspapers. August 18th and September 22nd 1828 issues of "The Anti-Jacksonian" published in Newark, New Jersey for the sole purpose of defeating Andrew Jackson for the Presidency. They measure 10.25" x 14", four pages (bifolium). Each has an Adams & Rush ballot on the cover with Theodore Frelinghuysen listed as an Elector. Some of the articles deal with election bets ("A bet of $500, offered on the result of the election in this State, has not been covered... You are authorized to offer the following Bets... $100 that Jackson does not get the votes of Louisiana..."). We have to think these are very rare. Ideal size for display.
