    Description

James K. Polk: Dual-Portrait Campaign Medal. JP-1844-3, 39 mm, white metal, engraved by Robert Lovett, Sr. of New York. This is a very scarce medal that features portraits of Polk and Dallas on either side with some choice slogans ("Press Onward. Expand the Boundaries of Freedom. Equal Protection to all Classes.") The slogans are ironic, since Polk favored the annexation of Texas as a slave state. Light-to-moderate wear with some rim bruises. Seldom offered. Selections from the Collection of Tom Charles Huston.
