    Description

George Washington: Memorable Era GW Button. There are around 20 distinct patterns of GW buttons known. These were made around the time of Washington's inauguration in 1789. The swearing-in ceremony was supposed to take place on March 4th, but various logistical problems necessitated a postponement until April 30th. This 34 mm. gilt brass button is the only design that includes the intended date. This is a gorgeous example with practically no wear. All the design elements and inscriptions are distinct. It is nicely toned, as well, although the gilding has worn off and may only be seen on the back side.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
