    Description

Exceptionally Choice 1789 George Washington Brass Inaugural Shank Button. This is Albert WI-12C, with 63 border indentations. For some reason, this particular style seems the most prone of all the GW buttons to come in rough condition. A high percentage of those we have seen are porous, corroded, damaged, etc. This is an absolutely gorgeous copy, with lovely light chocolate original color and patina, and even a hint of original luster. Original shank on reverse, of course. As a "type" example, it would be all but impossible to improve upon this copy. Diameter 35mm.
