Horatio Seymour: Fabulous Portrait Pennant. 25" x 11" glazed or polished cotton pennant, printed in red, blue, green and black. It features a large representation of a $10 "greenback" with Lady Liberty (copied from the statue perched on the dome of the Capitol) and a portrait of the 1868 Democrat, captioned "For President Horatio Seymour". It is additionally inscribed: "The People Demand of the United States Payment of the Bonds in Greenbacks and Equal Taxation One Currency for the Government and The People. The Laborer and the Office Holder Producer and the Bond Holder". Attached to a 16.5" length of the original stick. The design is similar to that seen on the standard Seymour portrait flag, but larger and more detailed. The graphics on this piece are simply breathtaking. It is a new discovery and likely one-of-a-kind. An important piece in a superb state of preservation.
