    Description

    GRANT CAMPAIGN BANNER.

Unique and important large 1872 Grant campaign banner.  Hand-done on off-white muslin, and in Excellent condition.  Great anti-Greeley rhetoric, including a humorous resurrection of a quote from Greeley during the Civil War, which would come back to haunt him: "Grant never was beaten and never will be."  Small paper pictures of Greeley in his trademark hat are affixed, one labelled, "Before Election," and the other, with crazed expression and eyes rolling upward, marked "After Election."  Please note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, additional shipping costs may apply.

Additional info: This banner measures 35" by 69"

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
