George Washington Inaugural Button, WI-11A, GW-1789-7 in copper. Designated the "GW in Oval Center" or, more commonly, the "GW in Oval." Another key pattern in the series, incorporating the two essential elements: the initials GW and the slogan, patterned after the European counterpart, "Long Live the President." This example has been cleaned and has a bright copper finish. It appears to have had some restoration to a section in the very middle, involving parts of both initials, with some retooling of the stippled background. The shank is missing. The overall appearance is quite nice.
