    Description

George Washington: A Fine Example of the Classic "Linked States" 1789 Inaugural Brass Shank Button. Although not one of the rarest GW button varieties, it has long been considered a "must have" by all serious hobbyists. "GW" in script in the center, surrounded by "Long Live the President" and a chain, with the initials of one of the states in each link. This is a distinctly superior example, very well struck with very pleasing light brown color. The shank on reverse, often missing or replaced, appears to be original on this specimen. Diameter 34 mm.
