George McClellan: Colorful, Rare Paper Parade Lantern. 4-sided paper lantern, measuring 8.5" x 8.5" x 8.5". The four sides are printed in orange and blue and read: "For President G. B. McClellan/ For Vice-President Geo. H. Pendleton/ "Union! And The Constitution!"/ [uninscribed shield]. The cardboard bottom is stamped: "Patent Applied For Sep. K. & B. New York." The panels have been backed with rice paper by a very competent restorer and the piece reconstructed using the original cardboard top & bottom and wire bail handle. The sides are stiff enough for the piece to stand on its own without folding and unfolding. Ideal for display. A rare survivor, superior to the standard accordion-style Japanese lanterns. There were two examples of similar McClellan's in the Chick Harris Collection (pictorial and non-pictorial). This one makes three, all different. We've never seen a Lincoln.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
