    Description

Franklin D. Roosevelt: White House China. 10" plate used during the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration, "Theodore Haviland, New York, Made in America" mark on the reverse. According to the reference source "Official White House China" by Margaret Brown Klapthor, this pattern was used at the New York Worlds Fair in 1940 in the official dining room in the Federal Building on the fair grounds. In October at the end of the fair the china was shipped to the White House with a property transfer schedule 1026, which listed "Chinaware - Theodore Haviland & Co monogramed with the seal of the United States Government in gold". These pieces come from the Tracey/Muffler family who worked in the White House. Richard Tracy started as a valet in 1926 during the Coolidge administration. John Muffler Sr., was Chief Electrician starting in 1944 and served up through the Clinton administration. In fine condition.
