Lincoln & Johnson: A Beautiful Oversized Ferrotype Pendant. Certainly one of the most distinctive and attractive ferrotype badges from the 1864 campaign, it could have been worn as a pendant or as a watch fob. We have only seen a few examples over the years, and vividly recall the time Chick Harris paid in the neighborhood of $3500 for one at an APIC show auction-probably the most that Chick ever spent on a single item. Condition is excellent, although the tintype surfaces do show a characteristic often encountered on these items. Sometimes this is misidentified as crazing, but there is no cracking on the surface, but rather a pattern of fine, shallow "valleys" in the emulsion. We note their presence purely for accuracy because, as the photo clearly demonstrates, this piece displays very nicely. Diameter 25 mm.
