Lincoln & Hamlin: Uniface Gilt Rimmed Ferrotype. This is Dewitt AL1860-116a with Lincoln portrait #1. It is 22mm and the ferrotype is set in a beaded brass rim with their names below the images. It is in really choice condition; missing only the original pin on the reverse. Upon very close inspection you will see the tiniest amount of extreme outer rim emulsion loss where it meets the outer brass rim from 11:00-12:00. The images of Lincoln and Hamlin are extremely bright and clear. Easily recognizable from 3-4 feet away. All in all, not a 10.0, but about as close as you could come without being there. Near mint.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
