DescriptionJohn C. Breckinridge: An Important, Possibly Unique Oval Ferrotype Pin in Choice Condition. Our May 18, 2015 Americana auction presented an uncut plate of oval ferrotypes including several similar Breckinridge images, but without the name above portrait (lot 42277), but this is the only example we have ever seen in finished form. It was purchased by Merrill Berman in the recent John Ford Collection auction, where it soared to nearly $4000, a tribute to its rarity and appeal. Breckinridge ferros are considered the scarcest among the four 1860 candidates, and other than the standard front and back varieties, DeWitt/Sullivan lists only several types, not including this oval mate to the more familiar Lincoln and Douglas varieties. A very special opportunity for the advanced ferro collector. 20 x 21 mm, with original pin on verso.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.View More Testimonials
As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
