    Description

Important 1860 Breckinridge & Lane Jugate Ferro. This style, made for all four 1860 tickets, constituted the very first in an unbroken series of pinback jugates (picturing presidential and vice presidential nominees) which continues through 2004! With the exception of a couple of very minor variants, these were the only jugates of that year, and all four are rare. The Breckinridge & Lane and the Douglas & Johnson are considered the rarest of the set. This example is a choice, nicely centered beauty from the Joe Brown Collection, with replacement pin on reverse (the original pins on these must have been very prone to breaking off, as the vast majority we have seen over the years have had missing or replaced pins). For strictest accuracy, we note an utterly trivial blemish on Breckinridge's cheek, which detracts minimally. Probably about 10-12 known. Diameter 22mm.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
