Blaine & Logan: The Iconic "Plumed Knight" Ferrotype Jugate. If one were to pick a single campaign item to represent Blaine's 1884 candidacy, what better choice could there be? Blaine was known as the "Plumed Knight" and collectors have always been drawn to items reflecting that theme. This brass shell badge also includes the pine tree, representative of Blaine's home state of Maine.

This is one of the last of the political ferrotypes. Although still seen as late as 1892, after 1880 tintype images were largely replaced by more economical photographic paper ones. This example is in great condition and certainly fewer than ten have survived in collector's hands. Lacking the original stickpin, it measures 1 1/2" x 2 1/2". The portraits are bright & bold with glossy emulsion surfaces. Selections from the Collection of Tom Charles Huston.
