Bell & Everett: Uncut Sheet of Ferrotype Portraits. 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" uncut sheet of ferrotype portraits of the 1860 Constitutional Union candidates for President and Vice President, John Bell and Edward Everett. These were meant to be cut out and individually placed into brooches or coin-like frames. We count 20 Bell photos and 19 Everett photos. Technically, these were known at the time as melainotypes. The sheet, in fact, is blind-stamped "Melainotype Plate For Neff's Pat. 19 Feb. 59". We are selling two other uncut sheets in this auction, the most significant offering of these rare plates ever to appear at auction. This example has some typical rusting and loss along the right edge, but is in great shape overall. It is the plate example from Ted Hake's 1789-1916 volume, p. 67, number 3016-N.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
