    Description

Daniel Webster: Very Rare Campaign Ribbon on Yellow Silk. 2" x 6 1/4" ribbon with engraved portrait of "Daniel Webster". Published by N. Dearborn & Son. A lovely piece retaining nearly all its original sheen. Based on the youthful portrait and overall look, it likely dates from 1836 when Webster combined with two other Whig candidates to thwart the election of Martin Van Buren. Always overlooked when his election was a certainty, he even received votes from some die-hard Bostonians in 1852, after his death a month prior to the election.
