    Description

Bryan and McKinley: Choice Pair of Rare Mechanical Skeleton Stickpins. Among the most sought after of political "mechanicals," especially in this beautiful condition. Covers on the chests, which read "16 to 1 is Dead" and "Death to Trusts", pop open to reveal the candidates' photos. Each skeleton is suspended from a fine brass spring attached to the stickpin. This pair was just too perfectly matched to separate them! Oddly, the McKinley is the rarer of the two, as is the case with the mechanical coffin studs as well. Height of each approximately 1.5".

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
