    Description

Bell & Everett: A Very Rare 1860 Ferrotype Frame. Sullivan describes this unlettered border as having a "waffle," pattern, which is probably as good a descriptive term as any. In any case, it is a quite striking and attractive contrast with the usual varieties. Sullivan pictures this frame for the three other 1860 candidates, but interestingly not for Bell. The condition is simply magnificent, with very choice tintype surfaces and full original luster on the frame. We would be sorely tempted to call it mint but for one tarnish spot on the border on reverse. Diameter 24mm.
