Abraham Lincoln: Victor David Brenner Plaque by Gorham. Lincoln wall plaques are ubiquitous, but this one is special! The central copper "medal" is signed V. D. Brenner and inscribed 1809-1909. It is the same design used by Brenner on the Lincoln pennies that were introduced in 1909 and are still being minted today. It is attached to a walnut shield. The back of the shield is stamped "Gorham Mfg. Co." as is the brass plate for hanging (hallmarked with an anchor and three-leaf clover). The bust has a lovely rainbow patina. So, it is signed by Brenner, twice-signed by Gorham, is aesthetically quite handsome and in mint condition. It is "everything to the good" and "nothing to the bad!" It is also the first example we have seen, with crossover appeal to both numismatists and Lincoln buffs.
