    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Impressive Quarter Plate Tintype. 3 ¼" x 4 ¼" tintype of Lincoln (O-41, taken by C. S. German in Springfield on January 13, 1861). Housed in an embossed copper mat and preserver. A few minor chips in the background with very minute crazing of the emulsion, seen only upon magnification and of no consequence. This is the largest tintype of O-41 we have seen. Upgrading the frame and adding a quality, period photographic case would no doubt enhance the presentation a good deal.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
