    Abraham Lincoln: 1836 Springfield Newspaper Twice-Listing Lincoln as Candidate for the State Legislature. July 23, 1836 issue of the "Sangamo Journal" published in Springfield. The front page announces the death of James Madison. The second page has an address supportive of Hugh White in the presidential election, listing Abram Lincoln and Ninian W. Edwards as candidates for the State House of Representatives. The third page has a ballot for the "August Election" promoting Lincoln law-partner John T. Stuart for Congress and Edwards & Abram Lincoln for Sangamon County representatives. There are also display ads for numerous Lincoln "associates", including David Davis, E. D. Baker, Ninian Edwards and Dr. Anson Henry. Measures 18.5" x 25" (unfolded), 4pp., with light, normal aging and wear. An important artifact dating from Lincoln's early political career.
