    Description

Winfield Scott: Spectacular Ceramic Flower Vase with His Color Portrait. One of Chick Harris's most treasured pieces because of its great display appeal and the paucity of items of any kind for this 1852 Whig presidential candidate. Probably of Mexican War vintage, as a similar Taylor also exists (Harris owned the Taylor as well; it was sold during the liquidation of the main portion of the collection some eight years ago). We have seen one other Taylor over the years, but cannot recall encountering another example of the Scott. Beautiful condition, although we must note wear or other weakness of the gold-leaf decoration on the reverse side, utterly inconsequential. Height 6.25". From the collection of U. I. "Chick" Harris.
