Winfield Scott: Pictorial Mantel Clock. Terhune & Edwards of New York City made this ogee mantel clock, likely in the 1847-1852 period. It measures 12" x 19" x 4". The 6" x 7" glass panel mounted in the door has a colored decal of Winfield Scott on horseback, directing his troops, while bombs explode around him. "Old Fuss and Feathers" is clearly recognizable. The image was also used on campaign biographies issued in 1852 when he ran for President against Frank Pierce. It has a lovely painted dial and appears to be in excellent condition, although we have not tried to see if it works.
