William Henry Harrison: Fine Portrait Pitcher with 1840 Campaign Motifs. His bust is flanked by flags labeled "Thames" and "Tippecanoe", and below is the slogan "Harrison and Reform". Log cabin with "To Let" on reverse (implying Harrison would not need it anymore as he would be living in the White House!). An attractive form, with nice pink luster trim. This design is more familiar on plates or bowls, themselves scarce, but quite rare on a hollow piece like this. It is certainly rarer than the WHH copper lustre pitchers of that year. Choice condition, but for minor professional repair to the pouring spout, absolutely undetectable except that the surface of the pink luster there is a little duller than elsewhere. Height 5.375 inches. From the collection of U. I. "Chick" Harris.
