Ulysses S. Grant: Woven Fabric Cigar Holder or Pouch. 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" thick-weave cigar holder with woven multicolored portrait of "Ulysses S. Grant Presdt" above a green wreath. The "ribbon", woven within the fabric, is reminiscent of the 1868 campaign ribbons imported from Switzerland. This may be a campaign item from 1868 or an 1869 inaugural souvenir. Blank reverse, complete with inner sleeve, minor loss to ribbon component. A colorful and rare display piece for U. S. Grant, himself well-known as a cigar aficionado.
