    Description

Rare c.1790's Chinese Export Saucer, With Scene Of Mt. Vernon Dating From When Washington Was President
Datable by the style, it features an attractive, stylized view of Washington's famed Virginia estate, with an unmistakable oriental influence in the hand-painted image. Minor wear on the gilt trim and owner's initials, JEW, but otherwise in near-mint condition. The initials stood for John and Elizabeth Woodward Wells, a prominent Boston couple. A delicately beautiful and very desirable early piece. Diameter 5 1/2".
