    Description

John Quincy Adams: An 1828 Campaign Thread Box in Exceptional Condition.
One of very few early 3-D items which can be positively identified as made for campaign purposes. The slogan on the top reads "Victory for Adams" below two American flags. An engraved portrait of "John Q. Adams" is found under glass on the underside of the lid. The velvet "pillow" on the top served as a pin cushion, and as a result these are usually found with the inscription worn - often unreadable. This is as nice as any example we have seen. The lid, which originally had a paper hinge, is detached as usually seen. But its otherwise great condition more than makes up for this minor flaw. 5.375" x 3.75" x 2".
