John Quincy Adams: A Remarkable and Unique Gift, Apparently Presented To Him As He Left the Presidency in 1829. Over the years we have handled a great number of objects owned by presidents, but none has been more unusual (or perhaps more appealing) than this copper bed warmer presented to John Quincy Adams by a friend. Inscribed on the edge in large lettering: "John Quincy Adams / from a warm friend." It is dated "1829," and features a large engraved federal eagle on one side. Given the date, we might well speculate that the occasion of its presentation was Adams' retirement from the presidency. A close friend might well have felt he richly deserved a good rest in a warm bed! Adams must have cherished the gift, as it has a rich patina from use and an old repair along the bottom edge. Several small dents and one larger shallow one to the left of the eagle's wing further attest to years of use. While this is not a political item in the strictest sense, three-dimensional display items honoring Adams are few and far between, and we suspect that this charming piece will be of great interest to sophisticated collectors. Diameter 12.5", thickness at its widest point approximately 3.5".

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
