HIGHLY UNUSUAL JAMES G. BLAINE PLAQUE. Rarely do we encounter such items for "losers" of this era. When you think about it how many 3-D display pieces have you ever seen for candidates like Seymour, Tilden and Blaine??? This 7 ¼" x 8" plaque has a very nice "presence" for display. High relief metal bust on a purple cloth background, formed over wood. There is fading of the purple color, but it is so soft and even as to be unobjectionable; rather it creates a nice aura of age. Original wire frame easel stand on reverse. Never saw another. (# This item may require additional shipping charges).

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
