George Washington: Circa 1795 Oversized Teapot. This is an impressive piece. We're not sure if it is a teapot, coffee pot or chocolate pot, but it is quite large and most unusual. The back side has a transfer of the "World in Planisphere" with representations of the Four Winds. The front side has a map of the Thirteen Colonies, standing portraits of Washington and Fame and a seated Dr. Franklin receiving dictation from Wisdom & Justice. Although unsigned, it is probably the work of F. Morris of Shelton. The fifteen stars in the flag, along with other factors, points to a date corresponding with Washington's Presidency. It is 6.5" across and 9" tall, including the lid. There is a tight hairline in the base and some restoration to the spout. It displays in mint condition.
