    Description

    George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette: Porcelain Cup Plate 3.75" diameter, likely English, nineteenth century. A small white dish decorated with a black transfer image of an American eagle hovering above portraits of the Marquis de Lafayette and George Washington. The illustration is somewhat clipped as made while the underside carries the maker's mark, "Wood" as in Enoch Wood. Slight staining, else very fine. From the Edward C. Gillette Collection.
