George B. McClellan: Most Important and Highly Unusual Figural Brass Smoking Pipe. Showing great detail, this casting of McClellan's bust uses the head as the bowl of the pipe and a hinged lid to slow the burn of the tobacco. Not many items were made for McClellan after the Civil War so we speculate that this may have been made for McClellan's presidential run in 1864. It certainly appears to have been made during or right around that time period. The stem is a piece of wood finished to look like a carved twig with the mouth piece attached and showing good use. The stem is a perfect fit and is no doubt the original. With a fine patina to the brass finish, you could not ask for a more impressive piece, worthy to be displayed. Excellent condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
