    Description

Folk Art: Unusually Large Eagle & Stars Punched Tin Lantern. Unless you see it in person, you may not grasp the magnitude of this "Paul Revere" style tin lantern. It is so large that it accommodates two candle holders. We suspect it may have been made as a tinsmith's trade sign or window display. It measures 29" tall, not counting the handle. The circumference is 38". The main design is an eagle in flight with its head pointed downwards. This takes up the front 2/3's of the lantern. All other surfaces are covered with stars. When illuminated, it must be truly impressive. Normal surface rust. Very good condition overall. Americana on steroids!
