    Description

Daniel Webster: Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug. 13" tall jug of ovoid form, manufactured by Ethan S. Fox of Athens, New York. The shoulder is stamped "E S Fox Ahtens [sic] 2" followed by the cobalt blue inscription "D. Webster". Some loss to the top of the handle & spout, expertly restored and hardly noticeable. Daniel Webster was a perennial presidential hopeful. He was a contender in the election of 1836 and this jug likely dates from that period. A wonderful display item for one of the great names in American politics.
