Blaine & Logan: Colorful Jugate Cigar Box. This 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" wooden cigar box was issued for the losing Republican candidates in 1884, Blaine & Logan. It has an eagle, flags and ballot box stamped on the lid with the names of the candidates. There is red, white and blue "stars and stripes" trim applied all the way around. An end label depicts a Union soldier and sailor above portraits of Blaine & Logan. The interior has a colorful label of the two men with a pink paper liner. The lid is still attached by what appears to be a strip of acid-free linen tape. It is one of the better boxes from the period from a graphics and design standpoint.
