    Description

Blaine & Logan: A Delightful Political Parade Drum from the 1884 Election. Used by the Harvard Drum Corps of the class of 1885 in a "Blaine & Logan Procession...Boston...Nov. 3, 1884" (the day before the election!). Aside from the normal light aging, the heavy vellum drumhead is in excellent condition, with one edge tear at 3:00. The undecorated bottom drum head does have a tear that goes completely across.

19th century political parade items are highly prized by collectors, and this unique drum is one of the best examples of that genre that we have ever offered. Diameter 16.5", height 8.75". Fittings are original and strings appear at least vintage.
