    Description

ANDREW JACKSON REVERSE PAINTING ON GLASS.. This piece of Pennsylvania folk-political art comes in a painted and stained pine frame measuring 5 3/4 x 8" overall. These forms of artistic expression were popular from the mid- 1820s to the mid-1840s. This example features a military bust of Jackson against a brown background, inscribed "Jagson" on a white panel below. This example, from an artistic point-of-view, is one of the better renditions we have seen. The colors are vibrant and there is a great amount of detail in the hair, epaulets and collar braid. There is one lateral and one vertical crack which both run through the portrait. The effect of this defect can be minimized or eliminated based on the lighting at point of display.
